Call for Abstracts

This edited volume, Global Education Futures: Reinforcing Policy, Partnerships, and Praxis across Africa and the Diaspora, seeks to explore how African and diasporic communities are actively shaping the future of global higher education. At a time of rising nationalism, shifting geopolitical alliances, and the rollback of international education under administrations such as Trump’s, this book centers Africa and its global diaspora as leaders—not subjects—of educational transformation.

The book will feature critical, forward-looking perspectives that examine education through the lenses of justice, equity, and collective agency. We invite contributions that highlight policy innovations, institutional collaborations, and culturally grounded practices that are expanding the horizons of African and Black global education.

Scope and Suggested Topics

We welcome proposals from scholars, practitioners, and policy leaders that speak to (but are not limited to) the following themes: Reimagining internationalisation policy through Afrocentric and decolonial frameworks; Equity-driven cross-border partnerships in higher education; Multilingualism and indigenous knowledge systems as assets in curriculum design; Digital innovations and virtual internationalisation in African and diaspora contexts;  Mobility, migration, and transnational learning across restrictive political climates; Youth leadership and student-led change movements;  Institutional case studies of transformative practices; Knowledge justice and scholarly sovereignty in global publishing Pan-African education initiatives and continental strategies (e.g., CESA 16–25); Diaspora engagement in capacity building and educational reform
