Digital diplomacy is increasingly shaped by online communication environments, where language plays a critical role in constructing meaning, representing national identities, and facilitating global engagement. Embassy websites, social media platforms, and official digital statements have become essential spaces where diplomatic actors communicate policies, engage international audiences, and promote intercultural dialogue.
This edited volume explores digital diplomacy through the lens of language and linguistics, examining how linguistic choices influence diplomatic communication in digital spaces. Drawing on perspectives from applied linguistics, intercultural communication, translation studies, and discourse analysis, the volume investigates how meanings are constructed, negotiated, and mediated across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
We invite original chapter proposals that explore theoretical, methodological, and empirical perspectives on language use in digital diplomacy. Contributions may address, but are not limited to:
- Digital diplomatic discourse and language practices
- Multilingualism and translation in online diplomacy
- Intercultural communication in digital spaces
- Social media and diplomatic narratives
- Language, identity, and representation in digital diplomacy
- Discourse analysis of official online communication
- Emerging technologies and the future of diplomatic communication
Selected chapters will be published as part of an edited volume with STAR Scholars Press (Open Access).

Authors should submit:

- Abstract (300–500 words)
- 5–7 keywords
- Short biography (max. 100 words)
Full Chapter Submission
- Length: 5,000–6,000 words (including references)
- Language: English
- Referencing style: APA 7th edition
- Originality: Unpublished and not under review elsewhere
Important Dates
- Abstract submission deadline: 1 October 2026
- Notification of acceptance: 1 November 2026
- Full chapter submission: 1 February 2027
- Peer review feedback: April 2027
- Revised chapters due: June 2027
- Final submission to publisher: August 2027
