Synopsis
This chapter analyzes university branding as a strategic pathway through which quality assurance, accreditation, and rankings are transformed into signals of academic prestige. Drawing on concepts such as symbolic capital, prestige economies, and academic capitalism, it explains how institutions communicate quality achievements to strengthen reputation, legitimacy, and stakeholder trust. The chapter also examines ethical and governance tensions, warning that branding should amplify genuine academic quality rather than replace it with image management or superficial prestige claims.
