Abstract
This scholarly handbook explores many critical issues related to teaching, learning, and advocacy of French language programs. French is not only one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, but it also serves as a gateway to cultural, educational, professional, and personal opportunities. The collection of writings in this volume highlights topics associated with French language teaching and promotion in the United States. Many authors in this volume introduce innovative methods in teaching French to increase students’ interest in learning the language. Others are sharing unique ways of tried-and-true efforts in advocating for French language programs in the U.S. By raising awareness of the issues associated with French language programs, individuals, educational institutions, and society can make informed decisions regarding the promotion and support of French language learning initiatives in the United States.
