Synopsis

This chapter examines how artificial intelligence is reconfiguring faculty roles in packaging design education in Vietnam. Using a comparative qualitative case-study approach, it analyses how traditional and technology-oriented institutions negotiate AI integration, project-based learning, rubric-based assessment, and cultural identity. The chapter argues that faculty are shifting from knowledge transmitters to pedagogical facilitators, ethical guides, and cultural gatekeepers. It also warns that AI adoption can intensify urban-rural inequalities, aesthetic homogenization, and digital colonialism unless governed through equity-conscious and locally grounded strategies.
