Synopsis

This chapter examines the rise of decentralized and hybrid learning models in higher education. It explores how digital technologies, artificial intelligence, blockchain, flipped classrooms, and federated learning can expand flexibility, personalization, and lifelong learning opportunities. At the same time, the chapter highlights barriers including the digital divide, unstable infrastructure, limited digital literacy, assessment complexity, social isolation, and unequal access in developing contexts. It argues that successful implementation requires coordinated policy support, institutional investment, faculty preparedness, and inclusive digital infrastructure.
