Synopsis

This chapter explores how Smart Campuses are reshaping faculty roles and professional identities, particularly in African and Global South universities. It argues that faculty are moving beyond traditional teaching and research roles toward learning design, data-informed instruction, digital collaboration, mentoring, and ethical leadership. While Smart Campus initiatives can improve access, pedagogy, and institutional effectiveness, their success depends on inclusive policies, professional development, digital equity, and human-centered implementation rather than technology alone.
