Synopsis

This chapter delves into the paradigmatic shift in sports management and marketing education amid the digital era, contending that AI-driven adaptive learning platforms necessitate a transition from traditional knowledge-transfer models to Learning Experience Engineering. The chapter’s theoretical framework integrates Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) for managing managerial complexities and Situated Cognition models to bolster practical learning via simulations. This approach metamorphoses the smart classroom into an arena for simultaneous cultivation of hard and soft skills. From an applied vantage, the chapter spotlights two pivotal domains: event-driven operations and data-driven marketing. In operations, immersive simulations through Extended Reality (XR) afford practice in critical skills, such as reputational risk management in sponsorship contracts and spectator experience design. In marketing, the potency of Big Data for gleaning actionable operational insights-particularly in modeling Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and implementing Dynamic Pricing-is expounded. Ultimately, the chapter underscores the professor’s transformative role as an educational facilitator and the imperative for data literacy-rooted professional development. It concludes that only by embracing a Hybrid Model intertwining AI technologies with human leadership and ethical maturity can we nurture future sports managers equipped to steer the global sports industry’s intricacies.
