Synopsis

Digital transformation has become a defining feature of contemporary higher education, reshaping teaching and learning practices through the expanded use of online learning technologies. While online education is increasingly embedded within institutional strategies, students’ experiences of digitally mediated learning environments remain uneven and complex. This chapter examines students’ online learning experiences within the context of digital transformation in higher education, with specific reference to a selected business school. Drawing on student perceptions, the chapter explores challenges associated with online learning, including issues related to access, engagement, instructional delivery, and institutional support. It further investigates students’ needs and expectations and evaluates the effectiveness of online teaching practices. By foregrounding the student voice, the chapter contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital transformation influences learning experiences and highlights key considerations for enhancing the quality, effectiveness, and sustainability of online learning in higher education.
